      My Flat  (пример)

I live in a nine-storey block of flats (девятиэтажный дом). Our flat is on the third floor.
There are three rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a hall in our flat.
Our flat is clean and comfortable. My parents’ bedroom is next to my room. The living room is opposite the bathroom.
My favourite room is my own room. It is not very big but nice. I’d like (мне бы хотелось) to describe it….. (описание комнаты)
Our kitchen is large and comfortable…. (описание кухни)

 Пример описания комнаты:

There isn’t much furniture in my room…
The green curtains on the window and a brown carpet on the floor make the room lovely.
There are some wonderful pictures (photos) on the wall.
You can see a lot of interesting books in the bookcase. I like to spend quiet evenings reading a book in my room.
There is a small (large) wardrobe in the corner of my room where I keep my clothes.
There is a writing table near the window. I always do my homework at it.
I like my flat very much.

Travelling

Modern (современная) life is impossible (невозможна) without travelling. Thousands (тысячи)of people travel every day on business or for pleasure. They can travel by plane, by train, by ship, by car or on foot.
Of course, travelling by plane is the fastest and the most comfortable way (способ) of travelling. But it is the most expensive too.
Travelling by train is slower than by plane, but you can see a lot of interesting places of the country. Modern trains have very comfortable seats. Speed (скорость), comfort and safety (безопасность) are the main advantages (преимущества) of trains and planes.
Travelling by sea is very popular. You can enjoy (наслаждаться) the sea, the sun, the wind. You are very close to nature. By the way, modern ships are very comfortable. You can have a good rest (отдых) while travelling, because there are different shops, cafes and restaurants on board the ship. You can even (даже) watch a film at the cinema and swim in the swimming pool.
As for me I prefer (предпочитаю)travelling by car. I think it is very convenient (удобно). You don’t have to buy tickets, carry (нести) heavy (тяжёлый) luggage. You can stop wherever you want and spend at any place as much time as you like.

Hobbies

A hobby is something you like to do in your free time. Different people have different hobbies. Some people are fond of music, sport, cooking, drawing, gardening, traveling, taking pictures, reading books and so on.
A lot of people are fond of collecting things. There are lots of things that people can collect, for example stamps, coins, badges, books, dolls, toy cars, cups, postcards.
My friend’s hobby is collecting stamps. He began to collect stamps at the age of nine. He has got a very good collection and is proud of it. His collection is thematic. His theme is sport.
Collecting stamps is easy and interesting. You begin to learn many interesting facts about history and famous people when you start to collect stamps. This hobby is popular with people of all ages.
When my grandad was young he was fond of collecting coins. There are coins from different countries in his collection. There are 5 silver and 2 gold coins in it.

London
London is the capital of England. It is its political and business centre. The heart of London is the City. It is the oldest part of London. Many people work in the City but very few live there. There are a lot of banks and other offices there.
You can visit some interesting places in the City or near it. One of them is the Tower of London. The Tower of London was a fortress, a palace, a prison and the King’s Zoo. Now it is a museum. You can see a lot of interesting things in the rooms of the White Tower. Its square walls are white and very tall. William the Conqueror built it in the 11th century. There are always black ravens in the Tower of London. People keep them in the Tower of London and look after them very well as they believe that London will be rich while ravens live there.
One of the greatest English churches, St Paul’s Cathedral, is not far from the Tower of London. The famous English architect Sir Christopher Wren built it in the 17th century after the Great Fire. It took Sir Christopher Wren 35 years. It is a beautiful building with many columns and towers. In one of its towers there is one of the largest bells in the world.
Trafalgar Square is in the centre of London. Some people say it is the most beautiful place in London. In the middle of the square stands a tall column. It is a monument to Admiral Nelson. Four bronze lions look at the square from the monument. There are two beautiful fountains in the square. They are in front of the National Gallery which is one of the best picture galleries in the world. Every day a lot of tourists visit this fine building with its tall columns.
